J. Kevin Swain is an Emmy and Grammy-nominated director/producer with over 30 years of experience
under his belt.
In addition to his career passions, Swain is dedicated to the mentorship of talented newcomers. He has helped launch the careers of some of the most successful creatives and executives in the industry. He has a heart for community service and his contributions are a hallmark of his amazing career and commitment to others.

J. Kevin has directed and produced some of the most influential brands in the country: Chase Bank, Allstate, LVMH, Lexus, T-Mobile, Door Dash and Heineken to name a few. Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, CA, his creative work has taken him to over 25 countries in Africa, Europe, South America, and The Middle East.
Swain’s directing journey took off when he directed Eazy E’s music video We Want Eazy and began directing a slate of music videos for hip hop legend Tupac Shakur. Since then, Swain’s career has catapulted in the multi-camera format where he specializes in producing & directing multi-camera live experiences for television, film and digital platforms. He has directed countless live specials including Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, John Legend Live in South Africa, Outkast At Coachella, Alicia Keys at The Hollywood Bowl and We Are The World 2. Most recently, he directed the 2020 HBCU commencement special Show Me Your Walk, which featured President Barack Obama as the commencement speaker.
Swain’s trajectory is nothing short of amazing. He was one of the first directors to set the creative palette for REVOLT TV, the cable network founded by brainchild Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. And he’s placed his imprint on documentaries including the Emmy-nominated Vh1 project The Hippest Trip in America, The Soul Train Story and the Grammy-nominated concert film The Enemy Strikes, Live, shot at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem.

Now, Swain is focused on releasing Paris Noir-Redux, The African American Cultural Legacy In Park that is currently in development. He is also working on documentaries on GoGo in Ghana, Samba, Robert Glasper, Billy Eckstine and the final tour of Hip Hop luminaries, Outkast.
